I've only been watching Rugby League (and supporting Trinity) for a few years. This has both good and bad points to it. The downside, is that there are still plenty of things I don't understand. Exactly why does the ref award a penalty, or not? Or award "six again", or not? And I don't yet totally understand what constitutes offside. I recognise some of our players, but not yet all of them! And a few other things. The upside of all my ignorance, is that I don't think about anything too deeply or go into the nth level of tactics. I get a feel for if we're playing well, whether we're making lots of mistakes, or if our players just aren't managing to break down the oppo. But unlike football or cricket that I've been watching for a 1000 years, I can't put my finger on exactly what we should be doing differently. (apart from obvious things like not dropping the ball!) Anyway, what am I leading to here? The bottom line, is that I just enjoy the moment and the game. On Thursday night, for nearly 60 minutes I had that horrible sinking feeling. We were going to lose to Cas yet again, our season was in danger of stalling or losing that bubble of optimism, another home defeat, the table was going to soon read played 8 lost 5, It's funny how quickly you get emotionally attached to a club. (oh yeah, and for good measure I was facing a long miserable drive home - and no doubt there would be overnight road closures to send me on some wild goose chase round unknown villages, just like the last night match I came up for). And then it all changed. Suddenly we looked better, attacking the North Terrace, the noise rose. A try and now it's really noisy. Another try, disallowed, sh*t. Then another try, fantastic. Oh sh*t, nerves again, Jowitt's got to get this conversion. He does! Now it's seriously noisy. It's all us. Except they nearly get a dropped goal. Oops, I forgot they could do that. Then we get ours. Absolute bedlam. But still end-to-end. One mistake and we could lose this. Unbelievable noise for the last few minutes, then it's all over. Brilliant, fckin brilliant. This is why I love sport. Sing and shout, I just about lost my voice. What a game, what a night, what a result! (and just for good measure, there weren't any road closures on the way home!)

Typical it would happen last carry of game for us. Hope he?s okay. He went through some pain defending last few tackles running and limping to plug gaps in the line. Hope Smith is okay too. I think Nikotemo probably will be a few weeks if it?s his ribs.

| Butcher:
Crazy game. We are just full of mistakes and it?s killing us. When I saw the team sheet I thought we were just going to try blow them away through the middle and complete high. But I think this is the first time Powell got his selection completely wrong, and was disappointed not to hear him mention that in his presser after the game. He said he was disappointed to hear the fans booing at half time because the lads were trying, but I think most were booing his choices.
Cam Scott was obviously put on the wing to make yards in our own end - which he did to an extent - but there?s so much more wingers are trained to do. Defending kicks, holding shape out wide, and finishing obviously. Scott couldn?t do any of that. I was also really disappointed with his non-attempt to close Hoy down for their first try.
Then picking such a big bench gave us no option to rejig at half time. If he doesn?t play Walmsley next week it?ll be a show of stubbornness.
I also think Griffin was a bad pick. He carries well but he?s so lazy - often shirks his responsibilities as third man in the tackle, and he?s quite easy to get around these days. But with Nikotemo now out again it looks likely he?ll keep his place. I?d be tempted to out Croft back in, and Vagana obviously.
And of course we need a half. Lino prefers playing down that right channel, and we all but ignored our left edge in good ball, which included our three biggest strike weapons against two of the worst defenders in SL. Again, for me that?s poor coaching. I?d like to see Max back at 6, with Rourke at 1. Otherwise, I?d like to see Stevenson get a shot, if he is ready.
But there were positives. Uele was good again, Nikotemo too, and Faatili completely changed the game. It was relief more than anything.
Agree with most of that, but ultimately it was our bench, that got us there in the end, so Powell didn't get everything wrong.

| I've been meaning to post exactly that. For all the criticism of team selection, he actually got the important bit right.
And on the other bits it was a no win situation. If he picked Max at 6 and played Rourke, he would have had to play Pitts at 13 and lost Cossa who had a great game
Some say picking Scott on the wing was wrong but he caught every high ball except the one he let bounce into touch and made some key tackles when QQ could have broken easy. The tries weren't because of him. The first was a breakaway where Griffin missed the key tackle, second was a kick to Hall and third was a kick when everyone was defending too tight. Walmsley might have got back for the first but I'm not that sure.
I don't think Hall was that great but he's the only one and I assume there because he could give us speed next to Scott's power play.
Also everyone wanted Max back in but he put two awful passes out when we had a chance on Scott's wing. One into touch and one to ground.
So how could Powell have foreseen that.
We weren't terrible across the park. We had some great breaks and made ground in the forwards, we just kept stuffing up the last plays.
We have every chance in France but we have to improve on those plays.

| We were very lucky , we scored two try's against a team with one of the worst defences in S L .We have at present two many forwards on the park and very little skill or speed were it should be. . ,I know we got injuries but we should stop looking for excuses for two shocking performances over the first 60 minutes of the last two games ,and agree that Mr Powell over the last two games as made some bad calls .We have got Catalan, Cas, Wires, and Salford in the next 4 games , they should show were we are as a team
